Fusaro, Altomare and Ermilio Donates Land for Medical Clinic in Haiti
Worcester, MA October 24, 2007 ---Fusaro, Altomare & Ermilio (FA&E), a Worcester, MA law firm, has donated $9,000 for the purchase of four acres of land, to support Forward in Health’s (FIH) goal of building a much needed medical clinic for people living near in Les Cayes, Haiti. The clinic will serve 15,000 people. The announcement was made by Dr. John Mulqueen, president of the organization. Forward in Health is a nonprofit volunteer organization, located in Gardner, MA, that is committed to improving the health conditions of people in Les Cayes, Haiti.
This is not the first gift from Fusaro, Altomare & Ermilio stated Dr. Mulqueen, “The firm has also provided financial support to transport key medical professionals on missions to Haiti as well as providing funds for critical medical supplies and building materials. In addition to the firm’s financial support, partners John Altomare and Brendan King are active members of the medical teams sent to Haiti. Mr. Altomare sits on our board of directors, and serves as treasurer, of this all volunteer organization.” FIH is gaining momentum toward its goal of building the clinic that will be located in one of the poorest areas in Haiti. It will provide basics that Americans take for granted such as wells for clean drinking water, jobs at the clinic for residents, preventive health education and all important-health care.”
Attorney Altomare, who met Dr. John Mulqueen several years ago, said “I was profoundly impacted by the poverty in Haiti and the total lack of the most fundamental medical care and education. Such terrible poverty in a nation so closely situated to the
U.S., the richest nation in the world, is unconscionable. Forward in Health has already
helped countless people in Les Cayes immensely and Dr. Mulqueen is committed to bringing a more permanent and ongoing solution through the medical clinic, we support that goal.”
The clinic project is slated to start in November. Once completed it will have a total of 20 rooms on two floors and will be staffed entirely by Haitian medical professionals. Dr. Mulqueen further stated that naming rights are available for each room in the facility through donations of $5,000.
